In 1996, he enrolled the Secondary School for Civil Engineering and Geodesy in Split which he finished in 2000 and received the title of geodetic technician. He enrolled Faculty of Geodesy, University of Zagreb in 2000. As a student, he participated in professional practice Bol 2004 organized by the Faculty of Geodesy. He graduated on May 19, 2006 under the mentorship of Prof. Dr. Miodrag Roić. The title of his diploma thesis was Control and Analysis of Vectorisation of Cadastral Municipality Starigrad (311723). He has been employed at the Faculty of Geodesy, University of Zagreb since October 2006, first as a professional assistant and since 2007 as an assistant in the Chair of Spatial Information Management of the Institute for Applied Geodesy. He has organized and performed exercises in the following courses: Communal Information Systems, Cadastre, Engineering Graphic in Geodesy and Geoinformatics, Support for Managing Space and Geoinformation Infrastructure. Since 2008, he has participated as teaching assistant in the Department of Geography of the Faculty of Science, University of Zagreb, where he organized and performed exercises in Real Estate Cadastre. Baldo Stančić has published numerous scientific and professional papers as the author or co-author in domestic and foreign journals and conference proceedings. He participated in scientific and professional projects Analysis of the Preconditions for Individual Transformation of Cadastral Parcels into Real Estate Cadastre (head Prof. Dr. Miodrag Roić) and Homogenization of Cadastral Plan (head Prof. Dr. Miodrag Roić). He has been successful in expert spatial information management work. He speaks and writes in English. The manuscript of the doctoral thesis consists of 128 pages of A4 format, abstract and keywords in Croatian and English, a list of tables, a list of images, a list of abbreviations and the author’s curriculum vitae. The first chapter describes the idea and motivation for making the thesis. It lists problems the thesis deals with, including research of approach to modeling archival cadastre data from analogue to modern technological environment. The research hypothesis is that analogue recording impacts the approach of modeling in cadastre. That kind of approach should be reviewed and adapted to object-oriented approach for the need of modeling in modern technological environment. In order to test the hypothesis, the necessity of a Baldo Stančićdefended his doctoral thesis Modeling Archival Space-Time Cadastral Data in the Modern Technological Environment at the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Geodesy on February 11, 2013. The Committee for Defense consisted of Prof. Dr. Siniša Mastelić Ivić, Prof. Dr. Miodrag Roić (mentor) and Assist. Prof. Dr. Hrvoje Matijević from IGEA Ltd. Zagreb. The Committee for Grading consisted of the same members.

Developing a BIM-based Spatial Ontology for Semantic Querying of 3D Property Information

With the growing dominance of complex and multi-level urban structures, current cadastral systems, which are often developed based on 2D representations, are not capable of providing unambiguous spatial information about urban properties. Therefore, the concept of 3D cadastre is proposed to support 3D digital representation of land and properties and facilitate the communication of legal owners...

Simulation of Smoke Emission from Fires in High-Rise Buildings Using the 3D Model Generated from 2-Dimensional Cadastral Data

Having a 3-Dimensional model of high-rise buildings can be used in disaster management such as fire cases to reduce casualties. The fundamental dilemma in 3D building modeling is the unavailability of suitable data sources. However, available cadastral 2D maps could be used as low-cost and attainable resources for 3D building modeling. Smoke will be a great threat to people's health during a f...

Towards a 3D cadastre: where do cadastral needs and technical possibilities meet?

In the Dutch cadastral registration a cadastral object (real-estate object) is by definition 2D (a parcel). In intensively used areas there is a tendency to use space above and under the surface, e.g. constructions on top of each other, infrastructure above/under the ground, increasing number of cables and pipes, apartments above shops/offices/other apartments. These factual 3D objects cannot b...
